What I Just Realized
My boyfriend and I, after a couple of bowls, go outside for a cigarette. We get on the topic of our favorite time of day. His was twilight. “Its the end of a hard day,” he said. Mine is night; I don’t like to sleep because I’m afraid of what I’ll miss. But tonight, another realization hit me, and for once, it made perfect sense. Night is so quiet and still. Life isn’t happening. No talking, no loud distractions from people passing by. Everyone else is gone, took their time and now its my turn to enjoy the world. People are in their beds asleep and I don’t have to worry about them right now. Its the only time I have to myself that I don’t spend worrying about anyone else. Its peaceful and allows me to focus on my own thoughts without disturbance or being put off. What’s your favorite time of day?

That first minute when I wake up in the morning, and everything is still a bit blurry, and I’m in between the real world and the dream world.

I like night too. I love to stay up really late.

My favorite time is the moment I wake up, because I know I can live another day, or at least a while.

Mine’s dawn. There’s something really refreshing about it. I always feel like I can start again when I see dawn.
